News:

Richard started his 2006 painting year very much with the planned Goodwood exhibitions in mind following a successful exhibition at the 2005 Goodwood Revival meeting. Unfortunately due to late change in plans by the Goodwood organisers the much hoped for exhibitions at both the 2006 Festival of Speed and Revival Meeting were cancelled. Attention was diverted at a late stage to the Silverstone Classic over the weekend 28 th / 30 th July. The Silverstone Classic has been undergoing something of a revival and although not yet back to its Coy’s heyday it was never the less a highly enjoyable event and has some exciting plans for 2007. It was perhaps not ideal that my display centred inevitably on Goodwood but the Ray Hanna tribute painting ‘Display Master’ received a great deal of attention and favourable comment. I have already committed myself to exhibiting at next year’s event on July 27 th / 29 th 2007.

Painting for the jigsaw puzzle industry has featured strongly this year with a major aircraft painting being commissioned by King International. The large 100cm x 70cm montage in oils features nine British-built World War 2 aircraft. Spitfire, Lancaster, Hurricane, Typhoon, Sunderland, Wellington, Mosquito, Blenheim, and Lysander. The 1000 piece puzzle is currently in production in The Netherlands and will shortly be joining their range of puzzles featuring some of my earlier paintings.

Now in my 18 th year as the Ben (Motor & Allied trades Benevolent Fund) Christmas card artist the latest design will be available shortly, this year the featured vehicles are a 1955 Austin Healey 100/4, a Panther motorcycle combination and a Ford Thames breakdown lorry in a traditional garage setting. The cards will be available from Ben (not me I’m afraid). If you are not on their mailing list contact them for details via their website www.ben.org.uk
